About Us > PARD Hybrid Vehicle Team

The Hybrid Vehicle Research Team is part of the PARD programme at the International Automotive Research Center, University of Warwick. The team covers a breath and depth of technical and business knowledge in relation to hybrid vehicles. Through strong links to Industry, the team provides industrially applicable research focused directly on the needs of stakeholders in hybrid vehicles across a wide spectrum.

CURRENT RESEARCH

Our current research focuses on two streams, a technology stream and a business stream.

Our technology research is focused on developing and furthering understanding of all aspects of hybrid vehicles through the development of a vehicle and system simulation tool. This tool provides a means to simulate real world components using supplier models, and incorporates various control strategies to optimise the powertrain for differing drive cycles and architectures.

Our business research is focused on the business case for hybrid vehicles. A key output of this work is a software based decision support tool which provides a structured approach to evaluating hybrid options at a business level, applicable for manufacturers, suppliers and consumers. This tool is being developed in partnership with a variety of stakeholders ensuring it is relevant to the needs of the stakeholders.

The two streams combine to provide a holistic approach to supporting organisations with their requirements in relation to hybrid vehicles, whether car, bus or taxi, private or commercial application.
